HAVING BEEN KNOWN as a pianist for over 35 years I felt it was high time to make a change. I relish a new challenge -just like when as a magistrate I decided I would get myself a first class honours degree in law -I decided the time was right to try to learn my other big favourite instrument.

The vibraphone has always been a major love ever since I first remember hearing it at the age of 12 on a LP record hired from Stourbridge library -to my shame I cannot remember who it was playing.

Although in my time as a pro musician I have been called upon to work with players of every style my own personal 'bag' has always been the good old standard repertiore. I believe that popular music was enjoying its height of musical sophistication during the first half of the 20th century with composers such as Gershwin, Porter, Arlen, and Kern among others. Fashions in pop may come and go but quality is never out of date.

Having become a resident of Mid-Wales and taking life just a tad easier these days, this challenge came at just the right time. This is my first album as a jazz vibes player and I hope that you will enjoy some of the tunes I like to play.
