Summer 2011

From Saturday 8th July to Saturday 30th July 2011

John Williams once again is presenting a wide selection of music at his festival

Music at Leasowes Bank is one of England’s remotest music festivals. About ten miles to the south of Shrewsbury in Shropshire, between the dramatic rocky outcrops of the Stiperstones, and the Lond Mynd is Leasowes Bank Farm where, each summer, concerts covering a diverse range of music are held in a converted barn.

The atmosphere is informal and the location stunning. Each year a new work is commissioned; the composers are drawn from all genres of music and have included Howard Blake, Michael Nyman, Geoffrey Bush, Bob Wilber, Diana Burrell, Neil Ardley and John Mayer. Last year David Matthews composed a piano trio for the Chamber Music Company directed by Mark Troop.

Leasowes Bank is a very special festival with many attractions – its informality, its setting, its musical range and interesting programming. Come and share in the music-making!
